Intellectual Property Rights

Trade marks, designs and patents are integral components of a brand, and can be one of the most valuable commercial assets of a business. Care must be taken in developing, acquiring exclusive rights to and managing these assets. Back Office Front Office enables you to search and register designs and trademarks, navigating the legal process on your behalf, but with your input and understanding of what you have, and what you want to do with it. Design Search and Registration For the purposes of legal registration, "design" refers to how something looks (its colour, shape, or contours) not to how it behaves (that could be a patent) or what it refers to (that would be a logo) . You may have known that, or you may have found that clarification new. In either case, the search and registration  of a design for your business may be something you'd rather someone steered you through. Back Office Front Office will take you through the process step by step, supported by legal advisors who will give you their considered opinion, and communicate with the Intellectual Property Office on your behalf.

IP Register As an additional service in the Intellectual Property Rights group, Back Office Front Office can maintain an IP Register of your designs and trademarks to ensure that the legal requirements for filing and usage are adhered to, and the registration is kept up to date and does not lapse. One Register can accommodate both trademarks and designs, however there is a maximum of 5 items in each IP Register.

Patent Registration COMING SOON. This is the “who, what, when, where, and why” of any new invention. It covers how things work, what they do, how they do it, what they are made of, and how they are made. Its value is simple: it gives the owner the right to prevent others from making, using, importing or selling the invention without permission. So naturally, getting a patent is not easy. There’s a long list of requirements, both about what the item is - and the things it cannot be! You’ll want a hand managing this process, and Back Office Front Office can lead the way.

Trademark Search and Registration This could be one of the most important things you need to do. But, as with so many things you undertake for the first time, you don't know what you don't know. For example, did you know that if you get an EU trademark you also have UK protection?
